Rescue Weight: 23 pounds

Arwen
Arwen, a very tiny california sea lion, was found dehydrated and emaciated on the beach at Cameo Shores. She was named in the spirit of the elf princess in Lord of the Rings.

At only 23 pounds, she was extremely underweight for her frame length of 37". We started her on fluids and antibiotics. As she progressed, we added a formula rich in multi-milk and then gradually introduced fish pieces. Her weight is now up to 38 pounds and she is now eating fish on her own.

She is very active now, carousing with the other sea lions in her pen and well on her way to recovery and release back to the ocean in the near future.
