Paige, a female California Sea Lion, 5 months old, found underweight at Newport Beach.
Species: California sea lion
Rescue Date: April 29, 2002
Rescue Location: Newport Beach, CA
Rescue Weight: 22.5 pounds
Rescue Length: 27 inches
Sex: Female
Paige
Paige is a pup that is better known as the "tiniest" sea lion. She came in underweight for her small frame. Other pups in her same age group are 10-15 pounds heavier and 10 inches longer. She is being tube fed a rich multi-milk formula 3-4 times a day. She shows interest when offered small fish pieces, so she will soon be transferred to a diet of herring pieces, sardines and smelt.

In the last months, we have cared for so many adult sea lions suffering from the effects of Domoic Acid Poisoning. Paige and other young animals like her bring a new sense of hope and purpose to our volunteers and staff.
