Nick's trip to the Denver Zoo in Colorado began in Laguna Beach on Monday, March 31st. He was loaded into a specially outfitted kennel and driven to the airport where he boarded a jet for his journey to the Centennial Airport in Colorado. With the Director of Operations/Animal Care and an experienced shift supervisor, the flight was uneventful with the exception of some bouncy turbulence that is common for flights into the Denver area.

Once on the ground, Nick was welcomed by the Zoo Curator and his new keeper and transported to the zoo. The zoo staff were excited to finally meet Nick and PMMC staff were excited to see Nick's new home. Nick spent some time to explore his new surroundings. He took to his new keepers right away, but it took a couple of days for him to admit that the fish in Denver is just as tasty as the fish in Laguna Beach. He also got to experience snow for the first time! Denver is known to have a few snow filled days in the springtime and Nick got to enjoy biting at the big, wet flakes coming down in the air.

Nick will soon be introduced to the other sea lions and harbors and join them in the public viewing pools.
