As a non-profit organization,
our volunteers are the backbone of our operation. Each
year our Animal Care and Education volunteers commit over
25,000 hours to the care of our patients, the maintenance
of our facilities and the education of our community.
Animal care duties consist of laundry, dishes, cleaning
pens, preparing fish for meals, feeding, weighing animals, rescues and releases.
To volunteer at PMMC, you must be 21 years of age or older and willing to commit
to one half-day shift per week for a minimum of one year. Morning
and afternoon shifts are based on our patients’ needs
and are a minimum of five hours per shift. During our
busy season (March through August) we have more patients
in-house and our animal care work load increases significantly. During
these busy months, animal care shifts are more demanding
and each shift can last a minimum of six to eight hours.

Please keep in mind we have several hundred applications and some shifts are full. There are several steps before becoming an animal care volunteer. If the volunteer coordinator feels you meet the requirements you will be receiving a phone call to start the interview process.
