The distribution of the Northern fur seal is
the North Pacific and Bering Sea. It is rare to find these animals
on our southern beaches. We believe this little one to have been
born a little early and was found and rescued by our volunteers
on a beach in Laguna when she was only a couple months old. Under
our care Munchkin's condition quickly improved and she started
growing and becoming more active.
Munchkin was satellite tagged to help researchers track her
and then released to a nearby fur seal colony. Please keep posted
