WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO SEE
PMMC cares for approximately 150-200 seal and sea lion patients each year. We can have anywhere from 2 animals to 100 animals at our facility at one time. The best time to visit is in the spring and summer seasons, when we can have 60-80 animals recovering and available for viewing. We encourage you to check our current patients page before visiting to see the number and species of marine mammals in our care.
AT THE VISITOR YARD
When you arrive, you will follow a brick pathway into our main courtyard area. You will see several pens with pools that are holding some of our recovering patients. Docent volunteers will be awaiting your arrival to answer questions, talk about our current patients, and help educate you about some of the causes behind our patients’ recovery stories. We also have a history wall that explains how PMMC was started, educational signage to learn about marine mammals and the oceans, and a wonderful gift shop to pick up a souvenir before you leave. The average time you can expect to spend is 30-40 minutes.
Private tours of our hospital are only available at certain membership levels. To learn more about becoming a member, click here.
Pacific Marine Mammal Center is a non-profit organization, and depends on your support to continue rescuing and rehabilitating marine mammals in need of care. Please make a tax-deductible donation here to support our mission!
