Pacific Marine Mammal Center is passionate about educating children and teenagers about marine rescue & rehabilitation and ocean conservation. We are excited to offer animal sponsorships designed solely for youth groups such as Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, science clubs, after-school groups etc. with 7 to 30 members. (This program does NOT include school classrooms- please check our education page for school program opportunities)
Each group** is assigned a recovering marine mammal at PMMC. PMMC will provide the group leader with email updates and pictures regarding their animal's course of care at PMMC. The group may view their assigned animal in PMMC's visitor yard, and learn more about marine mammal rescue and ocean conservation from our docents. Additionally, the youth group will be invited to their animal's release! The cost for this program is $300.00.

**The average cost to feed an animal during a 3 month rehabilitation period is approximately $2500. For this reason, there will be more than one sponsor per animal assigned under the Youth Program Sponsorship option. Upon signing up to participate in the Program, your group will be placed on a waiting list. Our patients are assigned when released from medical hold, so the average wait to be assigned an animal is 1 to 2 months. You will be given the opportunity to attend your sponsored animal's release. On occasion, in the the best interest of the animal's health, we may need to release on short notice. If this occurs and/or you are not able to attend your assigned animal's scheduled release, we will send you pictures and a link to a video of that particular release.
