LOCA's "Art and Sea Lions" Classes


Art Classes at PMMC

LOCA's popular Art and Sea Lions returns on select Saturday mornings each month at Pacific Marine Mammal Center in Laguna Canyon.

Perfect for adults, families, and groups, the fun begins with a guided tour of the Center and viewing of live sea lions and seals undergoing rehabilitation. Following the tour, participants will enjoy an ocean-themed workshop in the classroom, and take home finished art. New instructors and mediums will be offered each month.

Saturday sessions are held 9:00 am to 10:30 am at PMMC.

Adults $20 / $15 children ages 6-up. Children must be accompanied by paid adult.

Art and Sea Lions “Paint a Wave”

January 12, 9-10:30am

View live sea lions, learn about the rescue and rehabilitation efforts of the Pacific Marine Mammal Center, then learn to paint a breaking wave as taught by Michelle Burt. Beginners, families and groups invited - take home finished art. Adults $20 / $15 kids. Free on-site parking.

Art and Sea Lions “Sculpt a Sea Lion”

February 9, 9-10:30am

View live sea lions, learn about the rescue and rehabilitation efforts of the Pacific Marine Mammal Center, then sculpt a mini- sea lion in clay, in easy, step-by-step processes with Jan Sattler. Beginners, families and groups invited, take home finished art. Adults $20 / $15 kids. Free on-site parking.

Art and Sea Lions - Squid pastel with September McGee

March 9, 9-10:30am

Join LOCA at the Pacific Marine Mammal Center for a workshop that includes a docent led tour of the facility. After the tour join September McGee in the classroom and create an oil pastel of a squid. Finished art can be taken home. All supplies are included, free on-site parking. Art and Sea - Paint a Curling Wave with Mary Gulino

April 13, 9-10:30am

The workshop includes a docent led tour of the Center and a close up view of seals and sea lions. Following the tour, artist Mary Gulino will teach a liquid acrylic painting workshop where she will guide you through a simple painting of a curling wave beginning to crash. You will take home your work. All supplies are included, free on-site parking. Teacher: Mary Gulino Fee: $15 for Children aged 6 to 18, $20 for Adults, children must be accompanied by an adult.
