Available Programs

PMMC’s Daisy program that supports the ‘5 flowers, 4 Stories, 3 Cheers for Animals’ journey.

Daisies follow the journey of Tim Tam the sea lion pup from rescue, to rehabilitation, and release. Girls learn about sea lions and how Pacific Marine Mammal Center cares for animals in need and what they can do to help. Scouts explore the anatomy of seals and sea lions as they try on costumes and create an identification wheel they can take home and add to their group mural. Program includes tour of the facility.

PMMC’s Brownie program that supports ‘Wonders of Water’ journey.

Brownies learn about California’s watershed, how humans are impacting it and what they can do to improve water quality for everyone. Girls participate in an activity that simulates the path pollution takes through the watershed to the ocean and the after effects on the animals that live there. Program includes tour of the facility.

PMMC’s Brownie program for the Girl Scout ‘Senses’ badge.

Brownies compare and contrast their own senses with those of different marine mammals and discuss why the similarities and differences exist. Girls explore those senses further during activities that simulate various unique marine mammal senses. Program includes tour of the facility.

PMMC’s Junior program that supports the ‘Get Moving!’ journey. This program also meets partial requirements for the Animal Habitats Badge

Juniors learn marine mammals use energy to maintain their bodies, move both in and out of water, regulate body temperature, and migrate. Girls further explore some of these concepts during a mock marine mammal rescue and rehabilitation. Program includes tour of the facility.

PMMC’s Cadette program supports the ‘It’s Your Story Tell It!’  journey.

Cadettes explore the role of media in explaining human impact on the ocean environment. Girls create media that represents reality using tablets to film and create their own public service announcements (PSAs) on an environmental issue they learned about during the program. PSAs are then posted on PMMC’s education YouTube channel to share with others. Program includes tour of the facility.

We offer our general Field Trip Program for all other Girl Scouts!
