Everyone will learn how we rescue marine mammals and nurse them back to health to give them a second chance at life! There will be an opportunity to observe current patients and hear their stories during a tour around some of the rehabilitation pools. Plus, discover how we rescue the animals, facilitate their recovery and return them to their ocean home through a multimedia interactive presentation. Participants explore human impacts on the ocean that contribute to marine mammal strandings and learn ocean stewardship and advocacy actions that can help. This program is perfect for those interested in learning more about what PMMC does and how they can help be part of the change as an ocean steward! Participants additionally explore marine mammal artifacts such as pelts and skulls.

5th Grade | Group Size: 8-35 | 2 hours | Free for Title-1 Schools

PPP is a free grant and donor funded program at PMMC for 5th grade classrooms from Title One schools around Orange County. The content focuses on pollution in the watershed, its effects on the health of marine mammals, humans, and the ocean, as well as actions we can all take to protect the environment.

Short on time? Our 20-minute mini tour is a great way to learn how we rescue marine mammals and nurse them back to health! One of our marine mammal specialists will provide a short tour near our rehabilitation pools and share our mission, stories about the animals currently in our care, the human impacts that caused them to strand and ocean stewardship behaviors that help protect marine mammals, their ocean habitat, and ultimately ourselves.

Scouts investigate the world of marine mammals through a variety of programs focused on exploring the natural world, animal adaptations, conservation and caring for the planet. Each experience includes a tour of the center to view and hear stories about current patients. Every program teaches about human impact on marine habitats and inspires participants to take action through ocean stewardship and advocacy.

Our current programs are designed to meet Girl Scout badges and patches, but we are developing cub scout options that will be available in early 2027!
